How much does domain registration cost?

Annual registration and renewal cost € 8,99 + VAT for a .it domain, € 17,20 + VAT for a .com, € 19,99 + VAT for a .net and € 20,20 + VAT for a .org. Renewal costs the same as registration for these extensions. Check the updated domain price list before ordering.

Who can register a .it domain?

Adults who are citizens or residents of the European Economic Area (EEA), Vatican City, the Republic of San Marino, the Swiss Confederation or the United Kingdom can apply for a .it domain. Organisations, businesses and institutions must be based in one of these territories.

The name, excluding .it, must contain between 3 and 63 characters. Letters, numbers, hyphens and supported internationalised domain name (IDN) characters are allowed; it cannot start or end with a hyphen, and the initial sequence xn-- is reserved for IDN encoding.

How does registration work?

1. Check the name: enter a domain and extension in the form and check availability.
2. Complete the order and details: provide the registrant details, select any services and confirm payment.
3. Wait for confirmation: the request is sent to the relevant Registry after the necessary checks. There is no single guaranteed completion time: it depends on the extension, payment and accuracy of the details.

Reserved names and restrictions

Official names of Italian regions, provinces and municipalities are reserved; some names can only be assigned to the relevant local authorities. Before applying, consult the official .it Registry rules.
