Domains

In the current ilDominio.it price list, registration, renewal and transfer of a .it domain cost € 8,99 per year, excluding VAT. The price covers the domain alone and may change over time: always check the updated domain price list before ordering. Additional services, such as hosting or email accounts, are charged separately.

A .it domain can be registered by adults with citizenship, residence or a registered office in the European Economic Area, Vatican City, San Marino, Switzerland or the United Kingdom. The name must also comply with .it Registry rules and must not belong to a reserved category. Check availability before ordering.

There is no single guaranteed activation time. Processing starts after payment confirmation and receipt of the required details or documents, then depends on the relevant Registry and checks for the chosen extension. ilDominio.it sends confirmation when the process is complete. DNS configuration and propagation may take additional time before the website and email are reachable everywhere.

Renewal is requested from the customer area and must be ordered and paid for by the stated expiry date. Payment is made in advance and renewal is completed according to the rules of the relevant extension. Renew early and check that your contact details are up to date, allowing time to resolve any payment or authorisation problems.

When a domain expires, it and associated services may be suspended, making the website and email unavailable. Recovery options and costs vary with the extension and the status assigned by its Registry; there is no identical recovery window for every TLD. Contact support immediately: waiting may lead to deletion and the name becoming available to others.

AuthInfo is the authorisation code associated with a domain. For .it domains, the Registrar provides it to the registrant and it is required for operations defined by the Registry, including a change of Registrar. Keep it safe and share it only with authorised parties. If you cannot find it, request it from the Registrar currently managing your domain.

Transfers

Check that the registrant details are correct, request the AuthInfo or EPP code from your current Registrar and start a transfer order on ilDominio.it. Depending on the extension, email confirmations, documents or further authorisations may be needed. Before starting, record your DNS settings, mailboxes and active services: transferring the domain does not automatically move the website, database or email.

Timing depends on the extension, domain status, accuracy of the authorisation code and how quickly requests are confirmed. There is therefore no single timeframe for all transfers. To avoid urgency, start well before the expiry date and check that the registrant email address can receive messages.

A transfer may be blocked if the domain has a status that prohibits it, the authorisation code is incorrect or required confirmations are missing. Many generic domains covered by ICANN policy also have 60-day restrictions after registration, a previous transfer or, in some cases, a change of registrant. The rules for .it domains are separate and should be checked with the Registrar.

Changing Registrar alone usually leaves nameservers unchanged and can therefore leave the website and email running. Continuity is not automatic if DNS, hosting or email services change, or the previous provider disables associated services. Before transferring, back up your data and agree on DNS configuration with support, avoiding unplanned changes.

Hosting

Linux hosting suits WordPress, PHP and MySQL databases and is the most common choice for websites and web applications based on open source technologies. Windows hosting is designed for projects requiring Microsoft technologies, such as ASP.NET, IIS or MSSQL databases in plans that include them. The choice depends on your website software, rather than your computer operating system.

Each plan is purchased and associated with a main domain. Professional and Business plans support subdomain management, but this does not automatically mean unlimited independent websites. If you need to manage several domains or separate installations, describe your project to support: they can advise whether you need several plans, a reseller service or a dedicated solution.

The public hosting catalogue does not list a backup service as an included feature. Do not therefore assume that a copy of your content is guaranteed: always keep independent backups of files, databases and configurations. If you have specific retention or recovery needs, contact support before purchasing to check available options and their conditions.

Support can assess a migration based on the technology, website size, database and access provided by the previous hosting service. It is not automatically included in every plan and may require separate work. Before moving, prepare a full backup, FTP or control panel credentials, a database export and email settings, and avoid cancelling the previous service too early.

PEC

Italian certified email (PEC) certifies the date and time of sending, message integrity and delivery through receipts generated by providers. According to AgID, a message sent from one PEC mailbox to another has the same legal value as an Italian registered letter with acknowledgement of receipt. Keep the message, attachments and receipts associated with the communication.

In Italy, PEC is mandatory for public administrations, public service operators, companies and professionals covered by the relevant obligations, with their digital address registered in the required indexes. For individuals it is optional and can be selected as a digital address through INAD. Since obligations depend on legal circumstances, check your case with a professional or the relevant authority.

Ordinary email allows messages to be exchanged but does not itself produce certified receipts with a verified date and proof of delivery. PEC uses authorised providers and generates receipts documenting sending and delivery; equivalence to registered post applies to transmission between PEC mailboxes. An ordinary email sent to a PEC mailbox does not offer the same guarantees as PEC-to-PEC transmission.

In the current catalogue, annual fees excluding VAT start at € 22 for PEC Standard, € 27 for Bronze, € 42 for Silver and € 80 for Gold. Plans mainly differ in mailbox and secure archive capacity: total capacities are 2, 5, 8 and 15 GB respectively. Domain customisation and additional storage are also available, with separate costs listed in the price list.

Orders and payments

Orders can be paid by credit card through the online gateway or by bank transfer, following the instructions shown during the process or sent with the order confirmation. Activation follows payment confirmation and receipt of funds, together with any required checks or documents. Always include the order reference in communications about payment.

If you choose bank transfer, please make payment as soon as possible after ordering. Services will be activated only after we verify that funds have reached our bank account. Sending a payment receipt therefore does not trigger immediate activation. If payment has not been received within 2 days of ordering, you may receive a payment reminder. The service will be activated as soon as the credit is visible.

Prices published in the ilDominio.it catalogue exclude VAT. During ordering, the system calculates the applicable tax and shows the full total before confirmation. Activation or setup costs are listed separately from the recurring fee where applicable. To compare offers correctly, always check the selected duration, quantity, setup fees and final cart total.
